FMM: Every company starts by solving a problem. What led you to start, “Sink Spinner?”
I’m a single dad and by the end of the day, I’m tired. The thought of scrubbing out my son’s bathroom sink after he brushes his teeth makes me even more tired. I thought it would be great to come up with a product that would easily rinse out the bathroom sink. Then it hit me, we could attach a unit on the bathroom faucet that would automatically rinse out the bathroom sink when you turn on the water. I ran into the bathroom, to tell my son Hayden, and he was so excited. “Dad, we will call it the Sink Spinner, and we just found our third grade Pitch competition project”.
FMM: Sink Spinner is a self-rinsing device that is easy to use, saves a gallon of water a minute and many other pros. Tell us more.
Once we started playing with the concept, we understood there were many applications. Rinsing out toothpaste, make-up, whiskers and shaving cream was only the beginning. We have been approached by restaurant owners who would love to use this product in an industrial sink. Imagine how fast housekeeping in a hotel can get through the day if guests used this product. The possibilities are endless. The beauty is in the simplicity of the Sink Spinner. There are no batteries needed. It operates from the flow of the water from your bathroom sink. It has two modes. Aerate mode….regular water flow, through your faucet, and spin mode… it will spin and rinse your sink. With one easy motion you can change the mode. FMM: The motto of the company comes from your son Hayden. “Together we can make a collective impact and help preserve earth’s most precious resource: one sink at a time!” Expound on this idea.
Our most precious resource on the planet is water. Even though water covers 70% percent of the earth’s surface, only one percent is freshwater and used for human consumption. All of us…everyone on this planet needs to commit to water conservation. As we see today, there are regional droughts and this puts pressure on cities to encourage their residents to lower their usage. As our infrastructure ages, the pipelines corrode and leak. Countries all over the world are coming up with new and innovative ways of saving water. I am very proud to say that Sink Spinner is one of them.
FMM: Will the Sink Spinner be a household name in 2021?
Sink Spinner is a fun and Eco friendly product that solves one of the biggest headaches for anyone who cleans a bathroom sink. If you are tired of jack hammering out dried toothpaste or shaving cream…you need this.
FMM: Why was USA Manufacturing important to you?
It was very important, especially during the Pandemic for us to keep all aspects of Sink Spinner in America. It became prohibitively expensive for a startup to get the Manufacturing portion done here. However, our ideas, our beautifully designed box, our R and D, our engineers, our parts, and our marketing are all pure USA.
FMM: You also offer customizable wraps that change colors and themes, which may make brushing teeth fun again. Explain.
Our research and development team is already coming up with fun and innovative ways to customize the Sink Spinner. Our wraps will clip onto the Spinner itself. They will come in different colors and designs and have themes such as animals, flowers, sports, etc. painted on them. This will make the Sink Spinner more personal to each user. We are thinking about colored lights and timers…stay tuned!
FMM: What lessons have you taught your son through this process?
We have all learned so much on this journey thus far. We learned how to pivot, listen to all ideas, never say no, and most importantly, never give up. Hayden is taking this journey with the team and he is an integral part of marketing and research and development. He loves it!
FMM: Share your vision for the company.
I want to get a Sink Spinner on every bathroom faucet in the world. I will need help getting there but I am not afraid of the hard work. Imagine saving millions of gallons of water every day.
