Donnie Francis is a former Police Officer, MMA Fighter, turned Actor. After his last MMA fight in 2017, he was motivated to get involved in local charities, specifically Make A Wish Foundation. He began cosplaying as the Green Arrow, traveling to multiple Comic-Cons, making hospital visits to children, and participating in toy drives. This led to me being offered a photoshoot dressed as the Green Arrow. Little did I know this was the start of my modeling and acting career. Donnie is currently producing and starring in a short film alongside Bruce Soscia titled “Rivals” written by Scott Stephen Kegler. In the future he will be working on “Z Dead End” by Robert Restro as a Stunt Performer, “Shattered” on Investigation Discovery playing a lead role.
FMM: How did your passion for acting begin?
When I worked my first job as an improv street character. After the first couple weeks of performing, having families come back to interact with me or children try to beat me in a sword fighting rematch. I was hooked and still undefeated.
FMM: Share your background as a stunt actor. What are you most proud of?
I started training at about 16 years old on Hapkido and Kuhapdo. Eventually transitioning into MMA, which led to 2 cage fights and a couple BJJ Tournaments. I’ve got some tactical training, firearms, and bladed weapons. I’m most proud of what “Spider-Man Monsters of Manhattan” will be when it’s released. Being able to bring a level of stunts/choreography rarely seen in a fan made series.
FMM: Tell us about “Illuminate.”
“Illuminate” is based off a series by CT Daniels. A dark and heavy film that portrays the reality of human trafficking. With the goal of helping spread awareness through the art of film.
FMM: What has been your most challenging project?
“Illuminate” was one of the most challenging. I played a character that at the surface is charming, likeable, somewhat of a comic relief, but one day my characters darker side was shown and as a father was upsetting for me once home and able to separate myself from the character.
FMM: You produced and starred in a Short film alongside Bruce Soscia titled “Rivals” written by Scott Stephen Kegler. “Rivals” is slated to begin principle photography end of March. Tell us more.
It is an action-packed comedy short film expected to have a 45-minute runtime. I’ll be starring along side Bruce Soscia. We are both independent contractors specializing in extractions and wet work. We have very different ways of getting things done and have quite the volatile “working relationship”. It’ll have some really fun action/fight sequences with a ton of great comedic bits/dialogue.
FMM: Tell us about what is next for you in 2021.
What’s next? I’m not too sure. I know I’m going to continue to hustle! Do the best I can and keep kicking butt!
