FMM: Share your background and what led to you becoming a TikTok Influencer.
In August 2019 I was working at Tesco (Supermarket). I had worked there for 2 and a half years and to be honest with you, it really was no what I enjoyed doing. My friend George who I met at college was my closest friend at the time and still is to this day. He told me about the app Musical.ly (Tiktok before Tiktok). On musical.ly, a lot of creators danced at the time on the app, so I said to George there is no way I am going to use that.
A couple weeks later he ended up persuading me to download musical.ly, we had a joint account where we made videos together. The account is still active on Tiktok (@joshrobinsonyt). So we made public prank videos at first, going up escalators and then touching the persons hand who was coming down the escalator! That type of silly prank content. This lasted for about 1 month, until George lost interest, we gained about 15,000 followers at the time. I then continued Tiktok until I ended up making another account and grew up to 4.5 million followers. That is how I got into Tiktok.
FMM: You posted your first video in July 2022 and it garnered 2M Views. Tell us about this post and why you think it attracted so many viewers.
It was all planned, from the beginning I had a method which allowed me to gain the views and followers that I have. It was expected to get 2 million views, I also gained 1 million Tiktok followers in 1 month which was incredible and I loved every minute of it. It wasn’t easy but we got there from being ahead of the game and calculating the risks before they happened.
FMM: How much fun is TikTok? Where do you get your inspiration from?
Tiktok is super fun! Now I am making a living from it I love it. It has its moments obviously where it can get very annoying and hard, especially if videos don’t perform as well as you want them too, but this is all part of being a Tiktoker I guess. I would not recommended anyone to take it on full-time unless you are confident in your own ability to put in hours and hours of your time into Tiktok videos. If this is something you are aiming for then do your research before hand and know what you want to create. Find what you are good at and work with it.
I get my inspiration from the like minded people around me.
FMM: For those who aren’t familiar with your posts. What do you share?
To make it really simple, comedic rhyming videos. I also love to create public videos, where I ask strangers questions and put them into weird or awkward situations. I try to make people smile!
FMM: Any advice for newbies?
Consistency, everyone says this but the fact is, it is true. If you stay consistent with the same content you will take the internet by storm I promise you that.
Surround yourself with likeminded people, make your friends you. I have connected with so many amazing tiktokers and without them I would not be where I am today. As the saying goes, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
FMM: Do you have a favorite post?
This is my favorit post, this was my most viral Tiktok with over 45 million views. This video is my favorite because it was the first sign of success within my career.
FMM: How do you keep the content fresh?
I keep content fresh by searching what is trending, seeing what my fans want to see! A lot of people comment what they want to see next on the video and so I create what the people want.
I have several different accounts to help me brainstorm different Ideas which is also super helpful, I use the For You Page to help too. This is full of the latest and greatest content that I need to take inspiration from. There is not one place in particular that I get my ideas from, I get ideas from everything.
FMM: What do you enjoy the most about being a Tik Tok Star?
I enjoy the pleasure of working from home, I enjoy not having a certain time to wake up. It feels like everyday is a holiday. It brings so many opportunities that I am so thankful for and so many amazing people that I would never have met without tiktok. I love everyone I have made friends with and I have loved all the great times I have had from opportunities from tiktok.
