FMM: You have been drawing for over 25 years. Tell us about your background.
I started drawing around the age of 6 sitting at my nans kitchen table with my cousin she used to sit there with us for hours whilst we would copy the VHS cases of Disney films. My nan was my biggest fan until she sadly passed away in November 2020 it’s not something I took lightly as she would always be my first phone call. If I ever had achieved something, she was my best friend. Through school I used to draw on everyone’s textbooks and get in trouble for it. I then stopped drawing for a few years and took up martial arts which I loved doing 4-5 evenings a week. Then I started to pick up a pencil again around the age of 18 and continued drawing portraits and working on my graphite and charcoal work, by the time I was 20 I taught myself how to tattoo and ever since I have been doing mainly portrait art and realistic drawing, and I am now a resident tattoo artist at one of the best tattoo brands in my county.
I am married to my beautiful wife gemma we have been together over 8 years and have 2 beautiful boys. Louie aged 5 and beautiful boy number 2 due April 2021 I have so much support off my family my wife is golden she keeps everything going whilst I’m working, auditioning, training and filming. So really without her I wouldn’t be where I am now.
FMM: What cool projects have you worked on?
I have done a number of projects that I have loved with drawing I have drawn celebrity portraits over the years but the one that stands out in my head the most is the portrait I did for an English ex-rugby player and now actor Keith Mason. When he reached out to me I was overjoyed to be doing a portrait for him as he is such a good guy and will do anything for anyone. He was the person that inspired me to follow my acting dream and made me believe it was possible if I put my mind to it. Since then I have never looked back and I am actively auditioning and booking roles. I’ve had training from some great acting coaches some from L.A and I’m currently working with two in London.
I have done loads of personal commissions and recreated family photos adding family members that have sadly passed away. That is one of the most rewarding things as an artist to see their reactions to something that has taken you over 100 hours, it makes the time worth it.
FMM: Has acting always been a passion of yours?
Yes! most definitely. I have wanted to act from a young boy. It’s something that I loved to watch and do. I always loved performing even if I was being a clown. I found myself watching the actor’s performance more than the actual film overall and analyzing their expressions and body movement. as I got to my early teenage years I was too worried about what people would of thought of me to take it up as I didn’t know anyone else doing it. Sounds silly but back then I was always conscious of looking an idiot to my friends. But as I’ve got older I just wished I would of started earlier but as all my coaches have told me you’re never to old to start.
FMM: What genres interest you?
I love gritty crime films, phycological thrillers, true stories, martial arts films and I’m not afraid to say I love a chick flick too (romantic).
FMM: What is new in your acting career?
I am currently working on my character for an up-and-coming film I have been cast in called “trust not valid” which Is a short film produced in Cheltenham UK. I have been cast in a film that will be filming early April which is a bit of a love story with a twist.
Also I have been cast also in a gritty crime thriller with loads of fighting and gore due to start filming towards the end of next month, I am waiting on my scripts to come through from a Birmingham based director/producer & actor who is amazing at what he does, he does some very exciting work. This will 100% be the best project I have ever worked on as phill’s movies actually put you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
