FMM: Has acting always been in your blood?
Well, I was always one for playing pretend, and my pageant history can tell you I’m one for the stage. It just took a while for me to find something to channel those passions into.
FMM: What genres interest you the most?
Mostly noir or detective cinema; I’m a big fan of the much darker, grittier side of film.
FMM: Share your background in pageants. In what ways has it set the stage for you to act today?
It was in pageants that I learned how to perform for an audience. It may not have exactly prepared me for the minutiae of it, but it did set the groundwork.
FMM: How do you see your stand-up comedy as a conduit to acting?
I’ve always had a tendency for comedy and making people laugh, even if it wasn’t on purpose. I think my knack for humor can be very important for the uniqueness of my performances, to really make them stand out.
FMM: Who inspires you?
One of my favorite performances of all time was Heath Ledger‘s portrayal of the Joker (in the Batman Dark Knight Trilogy). There was so much dedication and detail put into the role, and I feel inspired to care about my own roles as much.
FMM: What roles would challenge you?
Generally, much more vulnerable roles could be challenging, and I think more brutal or sinister characters would be harder to become comfortable with. Nevertheless, I would work hard to adapt to the role.
FMM: Describe your acting style. What would a Director notice first about you?
I like to brainstorm the different little quirks of the character, to find out how they would act and why it’s unique from the other characters. I’d like to think a Director would notice this desire to make my role stand out.
FMM: In 2021, what are your goals for acting?
I would like to at least get one role different from anything else I’ve done. One that’s more challenging for me and can help me gain more skills.
