Josey Wellz Founder of Living Wellz: Transforming Lives by His Testament of Faith

Born H.J. Nicholas, Josey Wellz is a nickname given to him by a childhood friend and was the moniker used for his artistry. Josey Wellz was raised in the heart of New York City and as a youth, he fought the challenges and temptations filling the streets of the Bronx. In 2013 he found his way to Atlanta, with a heart full of hope and talent. He used his talent as a musical artist as an outlet to express his emotions into what became an unforgettable tapestry of life’s experiences.

Those experiences led to him connecting with his higher self in a way that transformed his life. Now seeing life through a different perspective, with more confidence and assurance than ever before, Josey reinvented himself and is now a Confidence and Life Coach poised to help others do the same. Josey believes that Confidence is key and in his teachings, draws on his own experience and expertise to help people improve their mindset and overcome their limiting beliefs in order to achieve their goals.

An Entrepreneur in his own right, Josey founded Living Wellz, LLC, leveraging his background as an artist to start his own career coaching those in the world of entertainment and entrepreneurship to build their self-confidence and transform their own lives, so that they can start “living well”.

FMM: You have used your talent as a musical artist as an outlet to express your emotions into what became an unforgettable tapestry of your life’s experiences. Take us back to when you were raised in NY.

There’s a term used “New York State of Mind” which envelopes a type of mindset required to survive in New York. My “Thought” process was easily influenced by what I was exposed to outside of my parent’s home. I had to create a different persona for the streets to be accepted by my peers. I was raised in the church and that didn’t make life easier for me, it led me to believe I had even more to prove.  My parents were very strict, and I didn’t want to be under their control. Taking on the rebellious spirit at 15 years old, I began running away from home habitually. I was combative with my dad. I didn’t make wise choices in picking the people I thought were friends. I became a product of my environment.

FMM: What was a pivotal moment for you?

My mother would say “Show me your friends and I’ll tell YOU who YOU are.” I didn’t understand the depth of her words at the time and my desire to be part of something trumped her words. I became a follower looking for street credibility. My actions and my mindset led me to federal prison. However, I believe that prison was one of the best things that happened to me. I spent my time wisely during my sentence. The prison has some pros to it though they are not magnified by the media. there are many positive aspects. I used my solitude to grow and develop my mind by reading, journaling, and making plans for my release. I learned many skills while incarcerated. Barbering, braiding, physical fitness, musical artistry, conflict resolution, and communication skills. My pivotal moment unfortunately came at a great price.

FMM: You are a well-known Confidence and Life Coach? Tell us about Living Wellz, LLC. Please share The “Living Wellz” Concept.

Living Wellz Aka Living Well, is me truly fulfilling my purpose. My innate desire to help people understand their God-given power and not leave their lives to chance is why I birthed this vision.

At Living Wellz, we practice radical accountability. What does that mean? It’s simple. Your life your story. The world throws suggestions at us every day dictating who and what we are supposed to be. Most people can not pinpoint when and where they started most of the habits that they practice. I teach my clients to get out of the “life is like a box of chocolates” mindset. You always know what you’re going to get because as a man thinketh so is he. What does that tell us? You are exactly who and what you think you are. Change your mind change your life. I’m not in the life-changing business I’m in the mind-changing business. I know that this concept works because the change started with me.

“Just as a well of water provides nourishment and hydration for the body, our coaching provides spiritual healing for the mind and soul.” -Josey Wellz

FMM: Why are clients coming to you today?

If I am completely honest mental health, especially in the black community is not very popular. Unfortunately, it takes most people to hit rock bottom to seek help and invest in themselves. Most of my clients gravitate to me because of the accountability aspect of my practice. My clients range from troubled teenagers whose parents are seeking solace. Athletes building their confidence. Helping business professionals find the balance between work and home life. Unlocking the door for Artists with creative blocks to breakthrough. Entrepreneurs who need the confidence to leave their 9-5 and fulfill their passion. That’s just to name a few. Truthfully my doors are open to everyone in all walks of life.

At Living Wellz, most of our programs are customized for the individual seeking desired results. Our clients undergo a vigorous onboarding process to determine their seriousness and if we are a good fit. We typically start with a commitment of a 10-week program. Consistency is key to any transformation. My philosophy only works if you work it. Once you make that commitment to yourself, I provide all the tangible and nontangible tools needed for your success with me right by your side along the way.

FMM: What do you enjoy the most about coaching?

What I enjoy most about coaching is the confidence I have in my philosophy and program. This said confidence came with actually coaching myself out of my wayward mindset. ”The results started with me acknowledging there had to be more to life than the way I was living it. Unlocking my God-given power was the best thing that ever happened to me. I desire to reach as many people as possible and educate them about the secret to living a peaceful and fruitful life. I enjoy Connecting with my clients and learning their life stories. In the end, everyone just wants to be heard and understood. My clients know at Living Wellz your feelings are always valid.

FMM: Can you share a shining example of a successful client?

The perk of growing up in a religious home is, I  learned that everything you do should start at home. Ministry starts at home. That is one of the teachings that I held close to my heart as I embarked on this coaching path. I desired to start at home. So I did. With my first-born son. After getting released from prison my first goal was to be a better father and be present in my kid’s lives. I did just that, poured into my son, and now at 23 to see him putting into action everything I have been educating and living makes me a proud dad. He is a professional basketball player. I’ve watched his dedication and consistency to the sport throughout the years now he is a beast out there. His dream is to play for the NBA and through meditation, hard work, and just implementing all of the empowerment skills that I have taught him he will most definitely have his dream realized.

All of my clients are shining success stories but this one for obvious reasons makes me the proudest.
