Terrance Bell: Master Pivoter Turns Passions Into Profit

Terrance Bell is a Texas native and successful serial entrepreneur — a civil engineer, gospel recording artist, producer, songwriter, author and his latest venture, the owner of a mobile-veterinarian clinic service, birthed from a deep childhood passion for pets and animals. He has also formed and operated successful engineering, construction, residential building and financial companies. On June 30th, the busy entrepreneur will introduce his book, Flawed But Unbroken: The Regenerate Soul of A Man, his fourth music recording, My Story, and a mobile veterinarian clinic, GeoVet Animal Care.

FMM: You are a successful serial entrepreneur. Tell us about your background.

Raised by both my maternal and paternal grandparents, I gained a deeply rooted mindset of versatility. I was taught to always have a backup plan and multiple streams of income. Never become content in life.

In high school I excelled in two sports (Football and track), while being in choir and the music director of my church’s youth choir. The passion I had for all of these things, along with the work ethic and mindset, has been with me throughout my life.

Before moving to live with my maternal grandparents, I lived with my mother along with two siblings in a duplex apartment. We had little at all, but we survived. Days without running water, electricity and sometimes food make nothing in life impossible for me, but the transition to living with my grandparents gave me a better experience while also appreciating that experience.

Along with the struggle of my early childhood with my mother, my life with my grandparents combined my strength to dedicate my abilities and talents. It also gave me a spirit of giving and helping those that are truly less fortunate.

FMM: Share your epiphany that led you to a deep-rooted spiritual journey.

My maternal grandmother and maternal great grandparents taught me faith and spirituality from my earliest memory of life. I was being taught at home and in church. Spiritual education was more important than formal school education in my family. I can remember at 3 years old sitting next to my great grandmother in church and having my first spiritual encounter with God. From that moment, everything was repetitive church experience, but then again, at age 11, I had another strong encounter with God. From that moment, my journey tremendously advanced.

Throughout the rest of my life, I’ve continued to level up in my faith, becoming wiser and stronger. There is never an end to my spiritual growth and education.

FMM: Tell us about My Story, which is described as your “most passionate work yet.” What do you enjoy the most about being a gospel recording artist?

My Story has been the most passionate because I’ve learned and experienced what unconditional love is through my son Titan, which has opened my heart to feel genuine joy and happiness like I’ve never felt in my life. It unveiled that same unconditional love with my daughter and the rest of my family, friends, and life itself.

Recording gospel music helps me to do what I’m supposed to do with it and that’s share and spread it throughout the world. I’m flawed, but my faith is strong. I strive to be a better man and my music helps me deal with my flaws by strengthening my faith to believe that God will (with a pure and loving heart) make me a better man. The work is never complete, so I continue to write and record with the purpose of spreading the gospel.

FMM: Take us through your thought process when writing music. For those who aren’t familiar with your work until now, what can they expect from your music?

Lyrically music comes to me in various ways. I’ve dreamt of songs I’ve written, been driving my car, on an airplane, laying on a beach (my favorite), or simply watching TV. Sometimes a full song comes to me all at once. I often come up with the verse and then write the chorus (hook) and then the rest of the body of a song. Sometimes I do it in reverse of that order.

I love live music, so there will be an abundance of live instruments. I love guitars, horns and drums so I want the essence of individuals passion for the instruments they love playing. A few examples of previous records are God Is God and Heaven’s Gates.

FMM: In June you will be simultaneously introducing your three passions to the world: Your book, Flawed But Unbroken: The Regenerate Soul of A Man, your fourth music recording, My Story, and a mobile veterinarian clinic, GeoVet Animal Care. Why is it so important to you to share your journey and passions with the world?

To show we are more than average people. Whatever your desire is, do it. If you have multiple talents and different abilities, present them. Share everything God has poured into you because that’s what he gave it to you for. When something becomes important to you, let it morph into everything you envision and imagine it being.

Sometimes even people that love and care about you will unconsciously attempt to detour you not knowing what they’re doing with words of doubt and fear, but that’s their fear. Don’t let even your parents or friends detour what’s in your heart, but do it for yourself. Be self-driven!

FMM: Can you share a few things you learned about yourself while writing your book?

I could right another 5 books on what I’ve learned from writing Flawed But
Unbroken but the most important thing it allowed me to do is completely heal. Completely heal from past resentment, anger, hurt, bitterness, disappointments, wrong doings, mistakes, and more. I’m a better man because of my book. It allowed me to reflect on my entire life, the good and bad things. My failures and accomplishments. It healed me!

FMM: What advice would you give to young men today facing various difficulties in life while trying to maintain a strong spiritual relationship with God?

Before doing anything become healed within. When this happens, you can be fully transparent with yourself and the courage you will gain from doing this will give you the strength to do anything you desire in life. It will also allow you to unconditionally love yourself and others.

FMM: You are an animal lover. Tell us about your vision for your mobile veterinarian clinic.

An individual first opened my eyes to understand the true souls of pets and all animals. The way she loves animals was a new experience like I’ve never seen which opened my eyes and heart. The more I learned, the more I wanted to get involved. Once I got involved, the more I wanted to do. I’m also creating a non-profit (Souls of Pets) to assist with helping abandoned pets. I was ignorant to so many things regarding animals that I’m no longer ignorant about, but I have so much more to learn, and I will.

FMM: How important is giving back to you?

Extremely, I had nothing as a kid. My mom had nothing. I experienced a life not as bad as many throughout the world, but it still wasn’t good. I love giving back and doing for others and I’ve sacrificed things in my life to aid and assist others less fortunate.

FMM: What do you want your legacy to be?

Leaving and passing my family a torch of giving with a sincere heart and passion to not just the less fortunate but to all people because we all need something beneficial in life that makes us better people. I want to leave a picture in everyone’s heart of me smiling in peace and wanting the best for them.
